| OK, so today was the first day of band camp. It really didn't go as well as I had hoped...
Field time... First off, I think we spent way too much time on music today. Don't get me wrong, music is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, but I think that we need to use the fields for marching while we have them. Right now we have Wildcat North for band camp (there might be one day when we don't have a field), but when the other sports teams need the fields, we're the ones that will get screwed over and not a have a place to march. During those times, we can be inside and practice music, but I really really really think that we need to use the fields now while we have them.
Basics... Oi... I really wish we would teach the freshmen how to march before we start learning drill... We only did 2 sets today (the starter and the 2nd set), but we still have not taught the freshmen how to back march or really anything. All we have done is forward marching. Plain, simple, forward marching. We really need to learn some more stuff before we start doing drill.
Basics2... This year we have a set block for basics. I'm fine with that idea because it's good practice. However, the way they set it up, we're no where near our section, and we're 4 steps apart. Being spread out it good, but we really should be around our section so that we can make sure that they are holding their horns correctly.
My spot... I was originally really excited about my number for drill... Keyword "was". Originally I was #11 (which is the first of the clarinet section). It turns out that 11 wasn't put in the drill... Thankfully, there was an open spot for the clarinets for 20. When I told Mr. Reedy about this, I figured he would just move everyone in the clarinet section down a number (I'd be #12, etc.) but instead he moved me to slot 20... Now I'm at the back of the clarinet section and around freshmen basically the entire time. I think it's good that there's a section leader towards the back, but I really wanted to be up near Ally, Ben, and Karthik...
SECTION TIME!! I really want section time with my Clari's!! I know that 99% of the time it's a complete waste of time, but it's one of my favorite things in band. It's where all the bonding happens in the section!! We haven't had any at all yet, and I'm really sad. I'm not sure if I even know all of my freshmen's names! I know it's just the first day, but I'm just nervous.
I don't want to be the upper classman who's always like "well, this is how we used to do it" but I'm afraid that's what I'm becoming... I'm up for change if there's a logical reason for the change (having a set block makes sense). However, I don't like change when there's no reason for it (having the block completely random and split up from our sections). Hopefully someone will read this an mention it to the higher-ups *cough* Goat *cough* I hope these things work themselves out over the next couple of days because if they don't, I'm going to be really stressed out over the next three months...
| So today I got a call from the marine recruiting people. It was just really annoying because I have no desire at all to join the marines or any other branch of the army. After I (finally) hung up the phone, I (along with Nick’s help) thought of several things I should have said to get him off of my back. They’re listed below... - "So, like, would i have to leave my boyfri-er, my friend Chad behind? Or could he come too?" - say that I’m gay - Height: 5’3” / Weight: 260 - Have you broken any bones? / Yes, both legs when I jumped off my roof trying to kill myself - Any breathing problems? / Asthma, and do heart problems fall into that category? - Have you taken any medications? / Now, by medications, do you mean prescription drugs, or does crack count? - Planned college major? / fashion design - I should have made it clear that Grove City College does not take any government money, at all. On another topic... AP exam grades came in today. I actually did really well on them . I got a 4 on the AP Physics B exam, and a 3 on the English exam. The english one isn’t great, but english has never been my strongest subject, so at least I have a chance in using that test grade to count towards college credits . | | |
| OK, following are a couple of bullitens I posted on MySpace that should have gone in a blog, but didn't. I decided to put it in the blog just for archving purposes.
June 19 @ 11:51 AM:
Yep, so I'm flying out to Dallas today to visit family/friends. I'll be flying back next Tuesday, and then immediatly leaving for Creation Fest. If anyone wants to go to Creation with Trevor and myself, let me know because the Taylors have some extra tickets. I should be online on and off throughout the week depending on where I can get internet access/WiFi for my laptop. I'll be back home on July 2nd.
June 19 @ 8:18 PM:
So I'm back... sort of. To be more percise, I never left. We got to the airport a few hours before the flight left and everything was going good. Then our flight got delayed an hour. Normally, that would be fine. One problem... we had a connecting flight that would have left Atlanta before we arrived there, and the next flight from Atlanta to Dallas was completely full with a ton of people on stand-by. Unfortunately, the earliest flight we could get on is tomorrow at 8 PM . We're going to try to make stand-by for tomorrow's 6 PM flight, but who knows...
June 21 @ 11:20 PM:
OK, so I finally made it to Texas . Right now I'm in Abilene visiting my dad's parents. Thankfully, I have Internet access here for my MacBook, so I should be on in the mornings and at night the next couple of days. If you need to get a hold of me, either send me an e-mail/message before Friday, or you can just call me whenever.
Today @ Now:
Just spent a full day in Abilene... There's not much to do here... This morning I went on a college tour at Hardin Simmons University. I don't plan on going there, but that's where my parents went to college and we decided it would be good to look at to use as a comparison for other colleges. After that we went to eat lunch with my aunt and uncle. They moved to a new house about a year ago, so it was the first time we were able to see it. I really like it. It's amazing how clean a house can be when you don't have any kids to messy it up, lol. I really like talking to them, they're fun people. We went back to my grandparents' place and hung out for a while / watched T.V., then we went out to eat some BBQ - REAL BBQ, not the crap pork and vinegar stuff you get in NC (no offense to the people that live there, but it's gross). I'm talking beef w/ ketchup based sauce. Although I'm not a huge BBQ person, it was good. Yesterday I found out that my oldest cousin is coming to Abilene w/ his girlfriend to visit grandparents, so we're going to eat dinner with them tomorrow. This was the first time I found that he had a girlfriend. Today I found out that not only does he have a girlfriend, but they're planning on getting married in December. Apparently, my parents have known this for a couple of weeks, but they just told me today... I'm always the last person to find things out...
Just a quick question for everyone... Does anyone only use Xanga anymore? I've been posting the same thing on MySpace for a long time, and I was just wondering if it was even worth continuing updating my Xanga if no one reads it / everyone has a MySpace. If there's anyone who reads this, tell me please. It's not a big deal to keep them both updated, but if NO ONE reads this, it's kind of pointless to continue to use it.
| Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve updated. I’ve just been so busy lately, that I haven’t had a chance to and/or I haven’t felt like it. I guess I this point, I’ll just give a brief overview of the past month…
Spring Play: It was pretty good, and honestly, I can’t remember anything about it…
May 6th: My brain was fried after that day. I woke up and went with Todd R. to the Hill School to take the SATs. They weren’t too horrible, just really, really long. After that, I took Todd home, stopped by my house, grabbed my physics stuff, and went to Marcopul’s house for the AP Physics exam review. For about half an hour, I didn’t do anything because my brain was just dead. Eventually I started working on stuff and got almost my entire review assignment finished. After the review, we went to Warwick Park to play volleyball (I think). I can’t remember who all went, but I want to say it was Trevor, Dan, Steve P, and I, and then Suave and Danny showed up after running.
May 10th: I was going to go play volleyball, and I was really excited about it, but it turns out that I had a dentist appointment that I forgot to write down in iCal, so I didn’t find out about it until the day before. I was really ticked off about it.
May 12th: We had a cookout at Warwick Part with a bunch of people. We played Frisbee, soccer, and volleyball. Tom made us hamburgers and hot dogs. It was a really good time. Trevor, Arthur, and I skipped the Japanese drum show at school because they didn’t really need us and we were having too good of a time at the park.
May 18th: Band concert. It was pretty good. Playing Africa and Amporita Roca with all of the alumni was pretty awesome.
May 20th: Prom. I had a good time. Like I’ve told everyone else who has asked me how it was, it’s better to ask a girl for details. Post prom was pretty fun too. Mandy and I did the Lost scavenger hunt, but we didn’t win ? . Good news is that I won a mini fridge!!! I took it directly across the hallway from the cafeteria and put it in the light room. When I showed Tara and Chelsea they jumped up and down and screamed for about a minute and a half. It was really funny. It’s going to be really nice during shows and stuff.
Last Thursday: FIELD TRIP!! We went to Hershey Park with physics, and it was really fun. I still need to do the labs for that… We went on a bunch of rides (think the only roller coaster we didn’t do was Super Duper Looper). They redid the Chocolate World ride, so it’s a little more up to date. They added singing cows… that was kind of weird…
I’ve worked the past two nights, but it hasn’t been too bad. I work tonight too, but I get paid time and a half because of the holiday ? .
MacBook!!! I ordered my MacBook on Thursday!! I was originally going to buy it from the Apple Store in King of Prussia, but they ran out the day that I drove over there with Ben to buy it :’( . The video adapter has shipped and it’s scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. That’s an exciting birthday present… a $20 video adapter that I can’t even use (it’s useless without the actual laptop). The laptop has an estimated ship date of May 31st (stupid long weekend), and it’s estimated delivery date isn’t until June 7th!! I really hope it comes earlier than that.
Tomorrow is my 18th birthday!! I don’t think I’m going to do anything for it, but it’s kind of exciting that I’m going to be turning 18. Now I can drive after 11, buy cigarettes, and buy porn!! YES!! I’m only going to be doing 1 of the 3 however, you guess which one, lol.

| Random fact of life... Tara, Chelsea, Rachel, and Lauren are the only ones allowed to call me Weavs.
Nothing too exciting happened today. Went to work this morning. That wasn't very exciting at all. Then I went to church, then we went to Applebee's for dinner. That was my day... o boy...
